Project Overview
A Minnesota Historical Society History Player portrayed Minnesota author Maud Hart Lovelace. She brought history alive by dramatically embodying the author, sharing memorable stories, and using props, artifacts, and multimedia elements. The history player covered Lovelace’s childhood in Mankato and what it was like to grow up in Minnesota 100 years ago, how Maud’s family and friends helped her pursue her dream of being a writer, how technology changed everyday life at the turn of the last century, and the rise of the middle class in the early 1900s. Three sessions were geared towards children and three were geared towards adults. The Waseca afternoon events were part of our Early Out programming and the Le Sueur event were marketed for kids on a day they have no school, however more adults came than children. We also partnered with the Betsy-Tacy Society to provide information about their upcoming Deep Valley Homecoming.
