Project Overview

Participants will attend a photography seminar presented by photographer Melissa Howard. The program will focus on teaching basic photography skills and techniques. Melissa will introduce the theme of the program: From the Mind of Man. The participants will then take photographs around the theme focusing on materials and objects that men and women created. The participants will have until July 19 to take photographs and turn them in to the library. Photographs will be hung as art in the North Mankato Taylor Library.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees of the photography program will increase their knowledge about basic photography skills and techniques. The seminar will be evaluated in a post-survey of participants.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The event was held June 28, 2014 from 10:30-11:30 am at the North Mankato Taylor Library and was attended by 10 teens. Melissa Howard shared her knowledge of photography with the seminar participants and helped judge the photographs providing feedback to the participants. Participants learned basic photography skills along with artistic techniques. Participants went out and took photographs using both camera skill and artistic techniques, the results were excellent. Eight of the ten photography seminar participants turned in photographs that were judged, framed, and hung in the library. The participants also received feedback on their photographs.
