Project Overview
Author Tom Uehling of Nicollet will conduct a PowerPoint presentation based on his book "Minnesota's Angling Past," which is part of the Images of America series published in September 2013 by Arcadia Publishing. The visually rich book includes rare images from across the state that capture memorable days of angling, such as the 1955 Leech Lake Muskie Rampage. Following the formal presentation will be a Q&A discussion and book signing session.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Written surveys will be distributed to all attendees. A majority of respondents will indicate they learned something new about Minnesota's fishing history, are interested in learning more about Minnesota history, are interested in reading more about fishing and Minnesota fishing and will share a positive review of the program. Library staff will observe a majority of attendees actively engaged in the program by listening quietly and asking questions. Anecdotal responses from attendees will confirm their enjoyment of the program.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Survey respondents indicated they learned something new about Minnesota' fishing history. 90% indicated they were interested in learning more about Minnesota history, and 70% indicated they were interested in reading more about fishing and Minnesota fishing. Librarian observed attendees at both programs quietly listening to the program. Questions were asked at both sessions, and audience members remained after the formal presentation to purchase books and speak with the author. At Orchard Hill, residents reminisced about fishing, sharing stories about how and where they fished as children.
