Project Overview
Dr. William Lass, Professor Emeritus of History at Minnesota State, Mankato, will present his new book, "Shaping the North Star State: A History of Minnesota's Boundaries." Based on research in many primary sources, this book is a comprehensive history of the origin, surveying, marking and maintenance of Minnesota boundaries with the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba as well as the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, South Dakota and North Dakota.

Measurable Outcome(s)

This event was a great success. 100% of survey respondents indicated they were engaged and educated by Dr. Lass's presentation. Audience members listened attentively, asked questions, and stayed after the program to discuss the presentation topic further, both with Dr. lass and among themselves. Several of Dr. Lass's former students from the New Ulm area attended and reminisced about their student experiences.
