Project Overview
Dick Kimmel performed his Talkin' Turley Songs program at the Madelia Branch Library November 24, 2014. He displayed turkey feathers, decoys, and art on a table while he sat and performed his songs. He accompanied himself on guitar and banjo. Dick Kimmel is a 30-year career wildlife reserach biologist with the MN Dept of Natural Resources. Turkey sons are Dick's specialty; he is reputed as knowing more wild turkey songs than anyone on the planet.

Measurable Outcome(s)
Participants learned a lot about turkeys at the program. Dick interspersed the songs with educational talks about turkeys, their habitat and their behavior. One participant comment that she thought the program would have been more fun if it was more music and less talking. The kids got a bit restless during the educational portions, but everyone enjoyed the music very much. Children, adults and seniors were in the audience with children making up about half of the audience.
