Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

We anticipate that 100% of participants will learn more about karate; 75% of participants will feel more confident about defending themselves; 20% of participants will want to checkout library materials related to history, martial arts, or self defense; 5% will attend a library event for the first time.

Measurable Outcome(s)

No one attended the adult lunch time workshop. Four teens did attend the afternoon workshop. All of the teens that attended learned useful self defense skills for a variety of situations from how to stand at concert to how to sit confidently on a bus. Mary was a very professional and knowledgeable presenter. She had everyone up and moving around and trying out the skills. She even demonstrated a karate sequence for the teens, which was impressive in its speed and power. 100% of the participants learned more about karate; 100% of the participants feel more confident about averting and identifying attacks; 50% of the participants want to check out library materials related to history, martial arts, or self defense; and 0% attended a library event for the first time.
