Project Overview

Robert and Lynn Halbrook used storytelling, drama, comedy, magic, lots of great books, and audience participation to create a fun show at our library. This show is chockful of goofy, spoofy, un-boo-lievable magic, and terrific books. The kids also learned some trick-or-treating safety tips that reminded them how to stay safe while trick-or-treating on Halloween.

Attendees will learn something new about Fall or Halloween; want to read books about Fall, Halloween or magic; and enjoy seeing some magic tricks.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Through observing the attendees at the program and informally interviewing many of them afterwards, it was obvious the attendees learned something new about Fall or Halloween. The kids shouted out answers to Bob's questions about Halloween safety. They clapped and cheered for each magic trick. They eagerly volunteered to help with magic tricks. Almost all of our Halloween and magic books were checked out after the program that night. We had to scramble to find some for the kids who were last in line to find a book. One little girl left the program and when her mom asked how it was, she had a huge smile on her face and she said, "It was magical!!!"
