Project Overview

Actor David Ward told some tall tales about Paul Bunyan and his logging friends. He carefully explained what made a tall tale unique from other types of stories. David Ward, an actor/ director, has written & performs this one-man production about Paul Bunyan. He is a 16+ year veteran of the theatre and performs throughout the country. This show includes tales and lore. Kids will love seeing Paul's giant baby bottle and pacifier, along with other giant props, such as the huge mosquito from "The Tale of the Mosquitobees." Kids will learn about the logging industry and how that time in history was influential in building our communities in the upper Midwest.

The audience will enjoy a presentation from a professional actor/storyteller, learn about Paul Bunyan and about Minnesota's early logging days and hear some tall tales.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Mr. Ward encouraged audience participation, especially for the lumberjack yell. The audience loved the props and laughed a lot. 26 people attended this program ranging in age from elementary-aged kids to senior citizens. The branch manager of the Lewisville Branch observed the program and collected pictures and anecdotes. All proposed outcomes were met.
