Project Overview
The Chautauqua 2014 mission is to promote local history, encourage interest in our history through art and cultural exploration. The Chautauqua philosophy is to cultivate an atmosphere where visitors can experience music, theater, art and nature in a historical setting. We will be presenting the history of the event as well as the history of Rapidan where it will be taking place. The Chautauqua admission is by donation. Concessions will be sold at a very reasonable price. RHS is trying to promote an event that isn't about spending money. It is about spending time in a rural setting with talented individuals who are there to interact, teach, entertain and cultivate ones creative curiosity. The goals for the Chautauqua 2014 are: • To bring art, culture and opportunity to rural citizens of the area. • To explore the history of Rapidan, the people and their culture. • To provide a quality event that is affordable to everyone. • To provide a venue for local and regional artists. All of our volunteers and most of the performers are from this area. The grounds and entertainment are handicap accessible. The entertainment and activities are affordable and of interest to all ages.
